Students Honor Patriot Day

Patriot Day at Glen Carbon

Students and staff at Lincoln Middle School, along with Edwardsville firemen and police officers, gathered around the flagpole for a special flag-lowering ceremony in observance of Patriot Day. Together, they paused to reflect and honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost during the tragic events of September 11, 2001, as well as the courage of the first responders who answered the call that day. At Glen Carbon Elementary, some of our youngest learners gathered around the flag to say the Pledge of Allegiance and listen to the National Anthem as part of Patriot Day. The ceremony gave students a meaningful way to show respect and honor the importance of this day in our nation’s history. Principal Laura Rogers also talked to students about the importance of their role in the school community. She emphasized that differences make us unique, that adults are here to help students when things are difficult, and that everyone has large feelings, and the power of our words. PHOTOS
